Collectible, Acceptable.  1946 Murray and Gee Publishers (likely first edition) hardcover missing its dust jacket with 384 pages.  Signed, doodled, and inscribed by author to previous owner on first free end paper; no other marks or names. Red cloth boards with black lettering; show wear. Wrinkling to the spine cover as though from water damage, but no water stains present. Binding / spine is firm and without tears. (Note that the shadow in image is an artifact of the scan, and does not appear on the cover.)

This is a work of fiction set near the time of the gold strikes in California in 1849. Illustrated with line drawings. The author states: "Before beginning this story I talked with men of the gold rush and stage coach days, with bankers, lawyers and business men.  Attired in an old hat, tattered coat and well worn shoes I met oraters, agitators and dreamers in public parks.  I even road with hobos in empty cattle cars in order that I might make an historical novel. . ."  California Gold Rush, Arizona History, Old West
